The officers and family members of the 15 fallen police gathered for the annual memorial.

An officer read the names of the deceased while family members and police laid flowers at the foot of the police memorial.

Chief Steve Settingsgaard said, "We're here today cause sometimes they don't come home and for that we can never forget their sacrifice. We never forget their service to their families, their cities, their police departments and their nations."

Cristy Tindall was the last Peoria police officer killed in the line of duty.

She died in December of 2004 when her squad car crashed into a utility pole while responding to a call.

East Peoria police officers held a similar ceremony today for their fallen officers.
