A maintenance worker found the building smoldering early this morning. As the fire trucks arrived, so did a group of residents who live at Leisure Acres Adult Living Center.

One resident, Deanna Dokken, is now living with her son in another part of the complex. She says she was babysitting her grandchildren last night when she saw the smoke.

Dokken said, "I have a lot of antiques because I worked at an antique mall. My mom was Italian and her mom brought some stuff over and they gave it to each one of our kids. And they're gone. What are you going to do?"

Another resident, Maxine Eichorn, lives very close to the building that burned. She says she saw the smoke from the fire, but thought it was fog at first.

Eichorn said, "They started knocking on our doors telling us to get out. We had to get out. Then we went up by the office. They come out there and told us we had to move further up because there were oxygen tanks and they were afraid it was going to explode."

One of the managers at the complex says all of the residents have somewhere to stay. Some of them are with family while others are at the Morton Villa and Terrace Care Center.

The manager of the complex says the building will be rebuilt once fire investigators determine the cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the fire victims with food and clothing and anything else that they might need.
