The Peoria City Council Tuesday night unanimously voted to create the first neighborhood impact zone. It will be located around the new Glen Oak School. 1470 WMBD Radio reports the zone will encompass a two block radius where federal, state and local dollars can be used for improvements such as public safety upgrades and new sidewalks.
During the meeting, Councilman Bob Manning said the zone would be the coordination of existing city services to help the old neighborhoods in Peoria around the new schools.
The Glen Oak zone is the first to be implemented and will be the rest run. Other planned zones are around the proposed new Harrison School and Lincoln School in the future.
