What was the "Coachman Motel" has been empty since December of 2006.l

Monday night at the Bloomington City Council meeting, council members decided to delay demolition of the building.

The Bloomington Council tabled the issue until at least the end of this month.

The Coachman was a last–minute addition to the agenda.
It was added after the Environmental Protection Agency approved a second asbestos removal plan.
City Manager Tom Hamilton says he needs more time to review the proposal, saying because of the motel's checkered history he wants to make sure every"duck is in a row."

Demolition on the building stopped in February, when workers found asbestos in the raw materials.
A recycling company will issue a new bid for the wreckage, which will include the asbestos removal.

In other business, the council approved two million dollars in road resurfacing, which will begin immediately.
