Motorcycle enthusiasts made some noise in Peoria for the 'Ride for the Cure'. In its 12th and largest year, 19-hundred bikes took part in the procession.

A record number of bikers are revving and rolling to help find a cure for breast cancer. Motorcycle enthusiasts, kids, dogs, and News 25's Tom McIntyre took part in this year's 'Ride for the Cure'.

Joyce Klees is riding along for the first time this year.

"I have always had the fever," Klees says.

The number seven on her cheek represents the number of years she has been a cancer survivor.

"It went on for 6 months of my life in 2001 including the first surgery up to the radiation, so it was not a good year for me."

With her battle behind her, she is now supporting others with theirs.

"To me, it was like a death sentence when I first got it so I can truly empathize with others going through it and be a supporter to them," Klees says.

Joyce is hitting the pavement with her husband Charlie by her side and admits it took some convincing to get her own motorcycle.

"I asked my husband if he ever thought we'd get a motorcycle, he said no, what about you? I said yeah, I think so," Klees says.

Two subgroups of riders from Bloomington and Springfield have joined the Peoria group. From the Shoppes at Grand Prairie, the bikers made the trek to the Expo Gardens in Peoria.

"It's really humbling to have this many people take part in an activity that is breast supporting," Klees says.

Others stood along the path as the bikes shuffled out, lending their support. And while many of these bikers live to ride, they are following through on the call to ride so that others might live.

Our News 25 Extra "Race For The Cure" Special will air at Five p.m. on Sunday, June 1, after the Children's Miracle Network broadcast.

When you have ~2000 bikes on 2 lane roads with 90 degree turns you can't expect to go 55 MPH. It's a parade not a race. The weather was cool enough, thankfully, not to overheat the bikes.

I think the view of all the bikes looking ahead and behind you during the ride is undescribable!!! But as usual when bikers are involved the media coverage is a total DISCRACE!!! It is a good thing we do the ride for the good of our efforts and not for the recognition!! This is my fifth ride and I love it and will do it again. AND THANKS TO ALL THE BIKERS WHO RIDE FOR THE CURE!!!!

The speed was way too slow for the bikes Some riders peeled off and left.
