Civil Rights activist and longtime N Double A-C-P Chairman Julian Bond addressed the issue of race in the River City today.
More than 500 state employees were at the Hotel Pere Marquette for the Illinois Association of Minorities in Government Conference.
This luncheon wrapped up a three-day event with keynote speaker Julian Bond.
Bond say's the work I-A-M-G does for minorities are parallel to the work he does with the N-double-A-C-P.
"Race is a problem in the U.S. today. We've made some progress over the last 50 odd years or so but there's still more to be done and groups like this play a large role in making sure it does get done."
This was I-A-M-G's 20th conference.
The organization works as an advocate for minority employees for government jobs and promotions.
