The Rediscover Peoria City Hall Committee gave a tour of the building this morning.

Renovation work on the 109-year-old building started last summer after a water pipe ruptured and caused extensive damage. Insurance money has helped pay for some of the initial work, but the long term remodeling plan will cost more than $3 million.

Peter Couri said, "It is really the last historic building of quality we have in the city. So we really are trying to make something that we can pass on to the next generation. It (the building) is something we've been given as a gift."

Couri says the committee hopes to create a museum-like building that is both welcoming for citizens and functional for employees.
