Salvation Army Honors Community Members

Today members of the Salvation Army came together to recognize several people from the community for their service.

Five awards were given out during a luncheon to honor area residents for their contributions to the Salvation Army in the Peoria Tri-County area. Former Peoria Mayor Jim Maloof and Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens were two of the award winners.

The keynote speaker was Gary Moore author of Playing With the Enemy.

He tells a story of his father's journey through the great depression and World War Two.

The luncheon has been a tradition for more than 30 years
