Groups of about 14 students helped at more than 20 different locations around town.

Students took on many tasks at Peoria's Riverplex, including cleaning toys in the daycare, decorating walls, helping in the snack shop, and sanitizing workout mats.

Teacher Cory Hynek said, "We go out to different spots in the community. We're using this opportunity to serve and try to show Christ's love through our actions while giving back to the community."

Children also volunteered at Dream Center of Peoria.

They helped out by sorting hangers, diapers, toiletries, and clothes.

Students also helped clean up, and greet customers in the store.

DCP Administrator Tarry Lance said, "Because there's so many it's going to obviously take less time. Typically it would take us over a week to do what they can in one afternoon. So it's a huge help."

This was the second year the students took a day off from school to help in the community.
