Salvation Army Breaks Ground On New Shelter In Bloomington

By Michelle Mantel

Bloomington Salvation Army officials broke ground today on one of their newest additions, the New Safe Harbor Shelter.

The facility will be able to accommodate 85 men and women.

It will feature expanded dorm rooms, a kitchen and dining area, as well as increased laundry and restroom facilities.

The 24-hour shelter will also serve as an onsite day care center. The new shelter will be located between Mason and Oak Streets in Bloomington, which is behind Salvation Army's Corps Community Center.

Construction on the New Safe Harbor Shelter is expected to be complete by the fall of 2008.
