Senator Proposes IDOT Help

Senator Dale Risinger of Peoria –a former Illinois Department of Engineer engineer – says road crews are buying gas on credit...because of budget shortages in the agency.
He's introduced a bill allocating $20 million in emergency funds.

"IDOT is saying they're going to run out of fuel, run out of money, and park these trucks in the maintenance yard," said Risinger.

IDOT blames expenses from a heavier–than–usual winter, and rising fuel costs for going $45 million over budget.
