Parents Play A Role In Keeping Teens Trouble Free

A recent state study shows some troubling statistics when it comes to kids drinking alcohol and doing drugs.

More kids are taking their first drink or drag at an earlier age.

Local case workers say parents play a key part in keeping kids from these bad habits.

Tazwood Prevention Specialist Jeanne Brady said, "Don't think it can never happen to your child. Alcohol or addictions know no class. There are no restrictions. It's open to anyone."

Kathryn Halleen with Catholic Charities Youth Intervention said, "Don't try to be their friend. You're not there to be their friend. You are there to be a parent. You're job is to guide them, to teach them to mold them, to listen to them and be there for them."
