The former Republican leader of the House, Bob Michel, returned to Peoria today for a public show of support for 18th District congressional nominee Aaron Schock.

Retiring Congressman Ray LaHood and Schock's Republican primary opponents joined Michel.

Schock said, "I'm excited about the opportunity to carry on that tradition. It's humbling to see those who've gone before me and recognize the weights that are upon me to deliver."

Michel and LaHood say they will hold Washington fundraisers for Schock.

Schock faces Democrat Colleen Callahan and Gren Party candidate Sheldon Schafer.
