The Federal Government is doling out more than one–and–a–half million dollars to help victims of the record breaking floods in Livingston and Iroquois Counties.
Evelyn Ribordy is just one of hundreds of people whose homes were overcome by floodwaters in January.
Ribordy says," It was just a total shock that it got as close as it did, then it totally flooded my basement till my freezer was floating upside down."
The 76–year old is getting help from FEMA for her cracked and sinking walls.
But FEMA can't replace the memories damaged and covered in mold in these photo albums.
"I started opening up the pages and they were just a blur of ink and instead of just a photo they were just that", Ribordy said.
And now she's looking at pages of paperwork from FEMA.
Pontiac victims are still doing whatever they can to get assistance... many of them are going to FEMA.
They've opened up operating centers including one Pontiac.
They give flood victims an opportunity to meet face to face with FEMA representatives and get questions answered or register for federal aid or housing.
FEMA's Federal Coordinating Officer says, "Their have been a lot of people we've run into that have been in tears because they've had significant damage to their home or are having trouble making their payments so we were able to come in and help with some rental assistance".
Ribordy adds, "They offered assistance for further information for cleaning up the area further if there was any more mold damage".
More assistance for Ribordy and more than 500 others impacted by the January Flood.
FEMA has already issued around eight–hundred thousand–dollars to flood victims in Livingston and Iroquois Counties.
The Disaster Recovery Centers will be open 7–days a week, from 9AM to 7PM until March 22nd.
After Easter they'll be open Monday through Saturday at the same time.
