Sitting in front of reporters and Bloomington Police who showed up to listen, Marth Neils blamed her ex-husband, John Lewis, for the murder of her sister Susan Hendricks and Hendricks' three children. Susan's husband David was originally convicted of the 1983 massacre, but in a second trial was acquitted. Neils says she never quit gathering information.

"I have come to the conclusion that David Hendricks hired my then husband John Lewis to murder his family."

Neils says Lewis has confessed to the murders to members of a church he attends in California. However, officials connected to the original investigation say Lewis passed a lie detector test when questioned about the murders.... while David Hendricks refused to take one.

Neils says she simply wants police to interrogate her ex-husband. She says under questioning and pressure he would crack and confess. Police seem more skeptical.

Police at the news conference refused to comment except to say they have received information from Neils. McLean County State's Attorney Bill Yoder says new evidence would have to come to light to open the Hendricks case.

"The new evidence would have to point to another person. David Hendricks could walk in and confess and we could do anything because he's already been tried," said Yoder.

No matter what happens, Neils says she is glad someone is listening to her.

"I just want justice for my sister and those kids."

Bloomington police closed the murder case after Hendricks was acquitted in 1991. In affect saying the real killer got away. Neils says David Hendricks is now living quietly in Orlando, Florida, while the wounds of his murdered family still fester in Central Illinois.

This afternoon a Bloomington police spokesman said investigators have looked into the information provided by Martha Neils and the case remains closed.

I knew David and I knew Martha (and the whole family). Don't believe Martha, period! Jim's right that she isn't taken seriously by anyone who knows her well. On the other hand, David is what he appears to be. He's a very kind, thoughtful, friendly person who happens to be very intelligent and hardworking and built a good business before this happened, lost it all through this tragedy, then built another good business after it happened, as I understand. Martha will have a different theory soon!

My "conspiracy theorist" attitude has helped land Dr. Irving Bush from West Dundee, Il. into jail and the loss of his license. He tried to sell us Cipro without a prescription for an infection we didn't even have. Want a copy of the letter sent to us about it from the Il. Dept. Of Finan. and Professional Regulation? I'll send you one. peter.martha.neils@hotmail.com One thing the murders have done are to make me very aware of fishy activities! I stand my ground in my conclusion. David hired Jon L

Jim hasn't read the info. I have. I have spoken out against the wars and this is why Jim says I am a "conspiracy theorist". Many people have spoken out against the war. (Note that Jim works side by side with David Hendricks.)I have never sent Jim any info., so he's judging before he knows any facts. Cover-ups started in the Chuck Hendricks' family home/"The Meeting" with family incest. David's sister, Jan, told me personally. They don't want this exposed. David IS the one who started this mess!!

I never even thought of David Hendricks hireing someone else to kill his family. I have been following this case since Davids release, I had just moved to Pontiac Ill. at the time, and he was on Sally Jessie proclaiming his innocence, and I bought it. I believe Martha, she probably knows both of them better than anybody and she certainly knew her sister and her children. Look at the Easburn case...their now retrying Tim Hennis, and they claim to have DNA evidence (its never to late for justice)

This is a ridiculous theory! David is the one who presented John Lewis as a suspect to the court (in his appellate process); who would do that if he was involved? David has always been the biggest victim in this case, with many aspersions cast on his character. The rest of his deceased wife's family is all squarely behind David to this day. Martha is a conspiracy theorist who isn't taken seriously by anyone who knows her. It would be nice if Martha would live "quietly", and not reinjuring David.

i just finished the book, and this new theory is VERY possible. David looks and acts guilty as hell on the 1983 tv interview, but there is no way he could have done it. When the author talks about the Lewis thoery at the end with the bloody scrubs he needed washed- it all makes sense with this new theory. David hired Lewis to kill them. Thats where Lewis got the scrubs from that were covered in blood. Unbelievable- and to think I had sympathy for that monster.

Even in the book, author Steve Vogal pointed a finger at the brother-n-law. It was murder for hire...
