Initial Autopsy Is Inconclusive In Baby's Death

By Leon Hendricks

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says more testing is needed to determine a 5-month-old Peoria boy's cause of death.

Preliminary autopsy results for Benjamin Sargent are inconclusive, but did not show any trauma.

Sargent's father called 9-1-1 from their Proctor Street home on Tuesday.

When rescue personnel arrived around 3:00p.m., the baby was in his crib, seated in a car seat.

Ingersoll has said the baby had not been well cared for.

This is truely heartbreaking...I can't stand to hear my granddaughter cry as I'm talking on the phone to her mother. I want to fly to where she is and comfort her. Can you imagine the sound of a 5 mth old crying in pain, hunger, and fear?! To ignore this is simply "PURE EVIL". I have faith in our system and the inmates of our system, who long to be with their children and family, that they will get what's coming to them!!!!

I Agree With what Andrea Said that Us as Parent are to love our childen unconditionly and Protect them from harm. What the baby went through was uncalled for and I also blame the family for not checking on the infant. I believe that Tracy and James should go through the same pain and neglect as Ben. But by putting them to Death they are getting away with Murder. They have to sleep in there own waste like Ben had too and Starve to Death as well. They are not very good Parents. God Bless You Ben.

We agree make them suffer! These people are obviously disturbed! Working @ a daycare and with little ones of our own, we know what a baby is like even after waiting 10 mins. without food! I can't imagine the agony that baby was in and who knows for how long! It's heartbreaking!!!

It is our job as parents to love and protect our kids. these people are not parents, they are monsters and need to pay. they do not deserve to have children. i have a 5 mo old boy too and am sick to even try to imagine what that boy went through. what mother denies the responsibilty of her own children? it is just in humaine. no excuse for it.

These 2 should be placed in snowsuits in a hot sauna, tied up until they starved to death. They need to feel the pain this baby felt...this is horrid.

I am totally disgusted by what these parents did. Some of us that can't have children would have loved this baby and cared for him and he would have had a great future! Eye for an Eye!!These People should be made to not ever have children again!

there is no reason a child should ever be neglected, if you arent ready for a baby, there are many other options. this is obsurd and these parents should pay

I say these parents should be strapped to a chair in the county jail with no food or water for as long as it takes.
