Air Tran To Suspend Service To Vegas In April

By Tom McIntyre

AirTran Airlines is suspending its Bloomington-to-Vegas flights as of April 9.

AirTran inaugurated the four-times-a-week service to Las Vegas last August with an Elvis-themed flight.

Fran Strebing of the Central Illinois Regional Airport says AirTran plans to resume service to Nevada in August of this year calling the interruption of service a "seasonal adjustment".

Strebing says the cost of fuel plus a softening economy likely led to the cession of the flights.

AirTran also cut Vegas flights for Moline, Illinois, as well as Dayton and Canton, Ohio.
