A Bradley University group hopes students will be able to use good judgment when it comes to drinking and driving.
They brought a special campaign to campus today hoping to raise awareness about alcohol abuse.
Some Bradley University students find out first hand what it's like to be drunk and driving.
Using a special delayed response technology and video monitors, students sat in a simulated vehicle and attempted to drive it for three minutes.
Freshman Mike Carlson said, "Like we didn't start off too bad cause we weren't drunk at all and then as it got worse it got really bad. He said there was a full second delay at the end and it was really tough."
The controls are adjusted so that drivers begin to feel as if their focus is blurred, making it difficult to control the car.
Sophomore Jonte Strickland added, "It was pretty weird, like okay I'm not really a drunk driver you know but as the simulation got more and more into it, it became very difficult and I almost hit a house."
Members of the group "Help Empower And Teach" brought the "Save A Life Tour to Bradley Wednesday.
The tour's Ashley Porter said, "Our objective is to get people excited about it but more so to get them excited so they try it out and actually understand what the real effect of drunk driving is."
Porter says she hopes the lessons learned here will help students make smart choices.
