After five years at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie, Camille's Sidewalk Cafe closed it's doors Monday. Co-owner Brad McCollum says personal and financial reasons forced the shutdown.

He said, "My lease expired, I was trying to negotiate another rent. I just couldn't get the rent negotiated. I spent a little more time in the hospital last year and got a little behind and just want to clean things up with that. So we had to close the doors."

Still folks like Margie Lee from Washington had not heard the news. She said, "It's one of the nicer places to have lunch out here at Grand Prairie. They've always had good crowds, good food, so I'm sorry that whatever happened happened."

Tracey Moushon and Jonnie Kaye Pryor had scheduled lunch at Camille's Tuesday afternoon. Pryor said, "Ironically I just came in from Houston last night and a friend of mine had introduced me to this place, I used to live in Peoria. So when I'm in Peoria I like to come here. I'm really disappointed."

Tracey Moushon added, "I walked in the back door and the place is like empty and there is a note on the door that said they were no longer going to be here."

McCollum closed another Camille's location last year in downtown Peoria due to low sales. Despite this latest restructuring he says he will keep the Pekin location at East Court Village open.

In addition to Camille's, the Bombay Company and Sharper Image closed at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie after their parent companies filed for bankruptcy.

We spoke to Shoppes Manager Dawn Shipman who says right now they only have five vacancies out of 66 spots and hope to have two new retail tenants signed within the month.

She says despite another bankruptcy filing, Linen and Things will remain open at the mall.
