It is no easy feat to truly create a tasty chicken wing.
But when you succeed, your wings can fly.
Eric Shangraw takes flight at "All About The Wings" in this week's You Gotta Eat.
All About The Wings could be a dissertation in fried–greasy food. If you like Diane Walker's reasoning, high cholesterol is a fair trade for flavor.
"The food is fantastic. It is tasty. It is just good, everyday, ' said Walker, who added she eats here too much.
All About The Wings features 14 different sauces and seasonings. They are not dipping sauces but fried coatings.
It's the homemade touch making this spot a frequent stop for Peoria wing connoisseurs.
"Our sauces are made from scratch. The seasoning is just awesome. You can't just get it anywhere. We make all sauces and seasonings here," said Amanda Humes, manager and wife of one owner.
News photographer Doug Smith and I both ordered the Five–Piece Wing Dinner.
Doug had the barbecue sauce.
He liked its' smooth taste.
Doug also dug into the Sweet Powder Biscuit, noting one would be good each morning for breakfast.
I had the Ranch Sauce wings. The Ranch is a best seller.
It had me sucking on the bone so no flavor would be left behind.
The Cole Slaw was disappointing and obviously out of a box.
But the baked beans were beautiful. I detected a hint of brown sugar and ground beef. The rest of the recipe is a secret.
We also shared an order of waffle–fries and another dipping sauce.
–Too much food for me. –Not enough food for Doug.
With drinks our bill: $25.19.
There are other items on the menu, but why bother when the wings simply soar.
All About The Wings is at the corner of Sheridan and McClure in Peoria.
They are open six days a week. 10:30 am to 9pm. Closed Sundays. Phone: 309-688-4711
