It's looking greener by the day at your local U.S. post office. The agency is making the switch to its most eco-friendly packaging yet. That means you can feel better sending items across the miles.
Each year, customers send a staggering five hundred billion express and priority mail items through the U.S. mail. And now, all that packaging is getting a face lift.
Although it's 100% recyclable the boxes are still very sturdy and still very eco friendly glue in there and customers will notice a slightly different design.
The Post office recently rolled out its new cradle to cradle certified packaging. A project is two years in the making.
Our stuff that we used to use was 99 recyclable as well, but what this does it takes it to the next level. 100 % recyclable. We've changed the inks, the produce, inside the package.
We're talking packages made with soy based ink.
It's not lead based or heavy metal based soy based is much more eco friendly than what we used to use.
Plus, more biodegradable glues, too. The goal is to kick 15 thousand metric tons of carbon emissions to the curb.
I think it's great, I think it's wonderful, absolutely.
I am happy they are using less material cuz the fills are piling up as I'm told.
And the best news?
It won't cost the consumers a dime.
