Event Description
The Tazewell County Health Department has scheduled the April 2008 Immunization Clinics. Immunizations for county residents cost $8.00 PER IMMUNIZATION, out of county residents will be charged $18.00 PER IMMUNIZATION. Immunizations which are available include: DTap, HIB, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B, Prevnar, Meningitis, and Varicella (Chicken Pox). Gardasil, the first cervical cancer prevention vaccine in the U.S., is available for girls eligible for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.
Monday through Thursday, WIC Clinic is held at the health department office on Route 9, one mile west of Tremont. The WIC program provides nutrition education as well as selected nutritional foods for Woman (pregnant and breastfeeding), Infants and Chldren (Up to age 5) who are at nutritional risk. Appointments are required. Call the health department and ask for the WIC office for more information.
On the second Friday of each month, free developmental screening will be available at the health department for all children from birth to three years of age. Specialists in child development will provide the assessments. Appointments are required and can be arranged by calling the health department.
The health department also offers pregnancy testing for low or no income women. This service is by appointment only and is made available as part of the Prenatal Grant Services. Qualified individuals can also receive assistance with some costs associated with prenatal care.
Mammograms and Pap smears are available through the health department for qualified women who reside in Tazewell County. For more information, call Kim at extension 341.
Also located at the health department is the Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic. STD clients will be seen by APPOINTMENT ONLY Monday through Friday. A fee of $5 is requested, however service will not be denied due to inability to pay. AIDS counseling and testing is also available by appointment. AIDS and STD services are confidential.
