Arson suspected in vacant house fire in Peoria

Peoria fire investigators suspect arson may have been the cause of a fire that broke out in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Avenue in Peoria Monday morning. The fire broke out before 3:30 am and when firefighters arrived they found the upper floor engulfed. Dirty chimney to blame for house fire

PEORIA, lll. – A dirty chimney is to blame for a house fire Sunday evening. Peoria firefighters responded to the 1500 block of NE Perry shortly after 10 p.m. Residents were outside and smoke was showing from the roof when firefighters arrived. Crews found a fireplace fire that spread to the chimney liner. Fire crews removed the chimney cap and put the fire out using a water extinguisher. Pekin woman gets probation after stealing drugs from nursing home

EUREKA, Ill. -- A Pekin woman was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to stealing narcotics from a nursing home. Tracy Long, 32, was a nurse at Maple Lawn in Eureka in September 2015 when alprazolam and hydrocodone went missing. Long claimed she gave the drugs to patients, but surveillance video revealed she had not visited the patients' rooms, according to the Illinois State Police. BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Bloomington Police Department is seeking a man after he was allegedly involved in a shots fired incident last Thursday. Police said Bobby James, 35, is wanted in connection with shots fired at Main Street Convenience. A business and two vehicles were struck. James is considered armed and dangerous. Gun threat leads to short lockdown at Harrison School

PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria school is placed on lockdown after an alleged threat by a student.  It happened at Harrison School in Peoria early Tuesday morning. District officials tell us an incident broke out between two students. After it was broken up, a third student, who is eight years old, allegedly told everyone he had a gun in his jacket. The lockdown was lifted after a search found no weapons. More>>
