Eureka College did a national search for their new head baseball coach--but picked a local legend.   Jerry Rashid is hired today at Eureka.   Rashid won over 800 high school games as a coach at Princeville, Peoria Bergan, Peoria Notre Dame and IVC.

The Dunlap Board of Education voted to fund a boys and girls lacrosse team for the 2017-18 school season.   Dunlap becomes the first downstate school to adopt lacrosse as a high school sport.   The IHSA will hold the first state lacrosse tournament next spring for both boys and girls.

For the 11th straight year, the Jack Sweney Tennis Program brought the game of tennis to Peoria children.   In its 11th year, the program has donated tennis equipment and lessons to over 1,500 children all to honor Jack Sweney.   Sweney was a life-long resident of Peoria who played on the University of Illinois tennis team and that kept playing well into his eighties in his hometown of Peoria.
