Eric Shangraw was born in Westchester, New York, and later moved to Normal, Illinois where he was raised. Eric stayed in Normal to attend Illinois State University for a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications. He graduated in 1987, and joined the News 25 staff in the fall of 1987 as a reporter. In 1990, Eric was recognized for his work by the Associated Press with a first place award for best feature. In September of 1993, Eric was named principal anchor and executive producer for News 25 Weekend. He now produces and co-anchors News 25 at Noon, and enjoys creating the weekly feature "You Gotta Eat" with co-critic Don Washburn. When not working Eric stays active in the community through the Cursillo and TEC programs. He also volunteers at The Children's Home in Peoria. In his free time he also enjoys bike touring, tennis and writing.
