One year from this weekend, February 17, 2009 WEEK television and every other broadcast television station in America will be turning off our analogue signal.
As mandated by the federal government, we are changing to a digital signal.

The changeover affects everyone who watches television… but especially viewers who watch us with an old style analogue t-v using an antenna… and don’t want to invest in a new digital television.
If you’re going to keep that analogue t-v, you’ll need a digital converter box… which will need to be hooked up between your antenna and t-v.
If you subscribe to cable television or satellite TV… the conversion will be done automatically.
Cables companies plan to keep pumping out two signals for old and new TV’s.

There are two different signals out there. A digital standard definition signal and an H-D signal. The standard definition signal will continue to convert that back to an analogue for customers so they don’t have to go out and buy a special tuner to make that happen or a new TV set.

This Sunday on Nightside, Eric Shangraw will have more on what choices you will need to make before the digital conversion takes place.
You can also apply for a coupon from the Federal Government to help pay for a converter box by going to our website.
